I discovered something beautiful today while poking around on one of my favorite music blogs.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the lovely Nils Frahm.
His compositions are ethereal, fluid, raw. This is the kind of music that plays in the background of my most fantastical daydreams. I see myself walking barefoot on a crisp November afternoon when I listen to this music. I see golden rays of sunlight and a young woman sitting in yellow grass as she flips through pages of a weathered photo album, remembering. This, Nils Frahm, is what I hope my heartache, fear and joy sounds like when it is translated into music.
My keyboard, a dusty, neglected thing I bought when I started taking voice lessons years ago, is sitting in my bedroom. It has gone unplayed for months. Tonight I am going to change that. After all, it exists to make music, to create something beautiful. But it isn’t going to do that on its own.
Pound on your pots and pans, whistle as you work, tune up that old guitar, stomp your feet.
Make some music tonight.
Smiles and all the best,
