Samedi Sommaire (Test Run)

“Samedi Sommaire” is a new feature I’m trying out on Untethered. It means “Saturday summary” in French, and it’s going to be a wrap-up of all the things I’ve been digging throughout the week. I was prompted to do a regular post like this by these fine bloggers whose weekly roundups keep me hip and inspired. Enjoy!

What does a girl do when Paris gives her nothing but rain, rain, rain? Easy– make hot chocolate, read and write. Every. Single. Day. But even the best routines must be broken from time to time. Here’s what I’ve been doing when I’m not sipping coco and cozying up with John Steinbeck…

Listening to:

No Doubt’s new album has a couple gems, but “Push and Shove” is by far the best. I can listen to this song over and over (and I have been). Gwen is just so intoxicating, it’s hard not to.

Wondering at:

Pinhole photography. Loosing my iPhone has forced me to get more acquainted with my digital camera, and one of the settings I discovered is, of course, the pinhole setting. It can’t compare to the real thing, but it’s inspired me to go searching for legit pinhole photography. I love the effect created by pinhole cameras and I’d love to have one of my own someday. (eh hem, Christmas present).

Drooling over:

These delicious and healthy No-Bake Sweet Potato Cheesecake desserts by How Sweet It Is. Because I don’t have an oven I’m constantly on the look out for no-bake recipes. Don’t these individual-sized treats look fantastic? And perfect for fall, too. I really am drooling…

Thinking about:

14-year-old education activist Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl who was attacked on her school bus by the Taliban. It is incredible that this young woman poses such a threat. By standing up for children’s and women’s rights, she has become a symbol of hope and progress in Pakistan, and apparently, a symbol of everything the Taliban detests. She is in critical condition after the attack, but she survived. You can read about her story here and here.

Dreaming of:

A journey to the magical land of Basilicata, Italy. Thanks to Haleigh at Making Magique and her numerous posts about this wonderful place, all I can do when it is rainy and grey here in Paris is dream of Italy. Haleigh has a way of making everything look like a fairytale, but I’ve been to Italy and I know it’s a magical place. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a trip there this year!

That’s all for now kids! Bon weekend! À la prochaine!

Oh! One more thing! What did you think of the first “Samedi Sommaire” ? Should I keep this up? Let me know in the comments below!

Smiles and all the best,

Savannah

  2. Yay this was such a great post! Love No Doubt and those sweet potato cheesecake treats look delish! Also I think you should incorporate a French word or phrase of the week, so I can learn something new :D

Hey Nesima! I’m so glad you like it! And the French phrase of the week is a great idea! I’ll keep my ears open for something special for next week :)
